How to Check Domain, Company, and Brand Availability

Finding a good name is only one part of the naming process. Before you move forward with a serious candidate, you should also check whether it is available and whether there may already be conflicts in the market. Naming Toolbox supports this step through the Checks area in the dashboard.

The Checks section brings together several validation tools that help you review names from different perspectives. Instead of relying on one single check, you can examine a name in relation to domains, company registers, trademarks, social platforms, app stores, search results, and hidden meaning risks.

The Checks Area

In the Checks area, you can access a range of validation tools directly from the dashboard. These tools include Domain Check, Company Name Check, Trademark Search, Social Check, Search Engine Check, Check App Name Availability, and Hidden Words in Names.

This makes the Checks section the central place for reviewing whether a name idea is not only creative, but also usable in practice.

How to Start a Check

Checks in Naming Toolbox are easy to run. You can either enter a word directly into the selected tool or choose a saved word from your Project area. This gives you flexibility, whether you want to test a new idea immediately or validate a candidate you already saved earlier.

The project panel remains available while you work, so you can quickly select existing words and use them as input for your checks.

Domain Check

The Domain Check helps you review whether a name is available across different domain endings. This is useful when you want to know whether a possible business, brand, or product name can also be used as a web address.

You can type a word directly into the Domain Check tool or select a word from your project. The tool then checks the relevant domain variants and shows which addresses are already taken and which may still be available.

Company Name Check

The Company Name Check helps you review whether a name may already exist in commercial or company-related registers. This can be an important step if you want to use the name for a business and need to understand whether there may already be registered usage in that space.

As with the other checks, you can start with direct input or with a word saved in your project.

Trademark Search

The Trademark Search helps you examine whether a name may already be connected to registered trademark usage. This is an important step when a name is becoming a serious candidate and you want to reduce risk before moving closer to a final decision.

A trademark-related check should always be treated as part of a broader validation process, especially for business-critical naming decisions.

Social Check

The Social Check helps you see whether a name may already be in use as a username on social platforms. This is useful if consistent naming across website and social media is important for your brand, product, or campaign.

For many projects, social availability is an important part of brand consistency and should be checked early enough to avoid later compromises.

Search Engine Check

The Search Engine Check helps you understand how often a name appears in search engines and on selected platforms. This can give you a first impression of how crowded or distinctive a naming idea may be in public online usage.

This is especially useful when you want to avoid names that are already heavily associated with other topics, products, or organizations.

Check App Name Availability

The app-related check helps you see how often a name appears in app store environments. This can be relevant if you are naming an app, digital product, or software-related service and want to understand whether the naming space is already crowded.

It adds another practical layer of validation for digital-first projects.

Hidden Words in Names

The Hidden Words in Names tool helps you detect whether a name contains other positive or negative terms inside it. This can be useful when you want to avoid unintended meanings, awkward associations, or problematic fragments that may not be obvious at first glance.

For brand-sensitive projects, this kind of check can help you identify subtle risks before a name moves further in the process.

Use Checks as Part of a Broader Decision

No single check can decide whether a name is perfect. A strong validation process usually combines several checks to build a more complete picture. A name may look good creatively, but still be weak because domains are taken, trademark conflicts exist, or the term is already heavily used online.

Naming Toolbox helps you review these questions in one system. Once you have created a shortlist of promising names, the Checks area helps you evaluate which options are stronger, safer, and more realistic for real-world use.
